Kwun Tong Ferry Pier on Wing Yip Street takes passenger boats from two places on Hong Kong Island. From North Point, Fortune Ferry charges an adult HK$8.30 and the Transport Department puts the trip at about 12 minutes; from Sai Wan Ho, Coral Sea Ferry charges HK$9 for about 15 minutes. The North Point boat also finishes much earlier: its last weekday departure from Kwun Tong is the 19:45, while Coral Sea keeps leaving Kwun Tong for Sai Wan Ho until 21:18.
On weekdays the service is a plain shuttle between the two piers, two boats an hour each way with a late-morning gap and another in mid-afternoon. At the weekend it changes shape. On Saturdays the two early boats, 08:00 and 08:30 from North Point, still run direct, but from 09:00 each hourly departure calls at Kwun Tong, sails on to the Runway Park landing at Kai Tak and returns via Kwun Tong. On Sundays and public holidays every sailing makes that loop, from 09:00 to 19:00.
Set beside the Hung Hom ferry that Sun Ferry runs from the West pier a few steps away, this one uses the East pier and has its own fares and its own HK$270 monthly pass; Sun Ferry's pass covers only its own North Point routes.
HK$8.30 whichever section you ride
One flat fare covers the whole route, whether you ride North Point to Kwun Tong, Kwun Tong to Kai Tak or the full loop. Children aged 3 to 11, anyone over 64 and passengers with disabilities pay the HK$4.10 concession; a child under 3 with an adult rides free if not using a seat.
With an adult fare under HK$10, this route falls in the flat band of the Government's $2 Scheme, which gives residents of 60 and above who hold a JoyYou Card, and disabled passengers under 60 whose personalised Octopus has disability status, HK$2 rides. The concession works only on that card, bought in person at the pier, and never in cash.

The East pier at North Point, Wing Yip Street in Kwun Tong
Two ferry piers stand next to each other on the North Point waterfront, East and West. Fortune sails from the East one; the West pier belongs to Sun Ferry, whose boats to Hung Hom leave from there. At Kwun Tong the ferry uses the pier on Wing Yip Street, the same one served by Coral Sea's crossing from Sai Wan Ho. At Kai Tak it berths at Runway Park Pier Landing No. 1, for which Fortune publishes a location but no list of facilities.
North Point (East) Ferry Pier
Fortune's pier sheet lists boarding facilities for disabled passengers, a waiting room with seats, toilets inside the gate and a self-service point for the public transport fare subsidy. There is no nursing room here.
Kwun Tong Ferry Pier
The Kwun Tong pier is shared with Coral Sea's boats to Sai Wan Ho. Fortune lists disabled boarding facilities, a waiting room, toilets inside the gate, a nursing room within the women's toilet and a subsidy collection point.
North Point, Kwun Tong and the old runway
Leaving the Eastern District, the boats cross the eastern harbour to Kwun Tong District; at weekends they continue west along the shore to Runway Park Pier Landing No. 1 on Shing Fung Road, Kai Tak, and come back by way of Kwun Tong. The Transport Department quotes about 12 minutes for North Point – Kwun Tong and about 24 for North Point – Kwun Tong – Kai Tak. Fortune's FAQ gives about 15 minutes for North Point – Kwun Tong, about 10 for Kwun Tong – Kai Tak and about 25 for the return from Kai Tak to North Point.
Things to sort out at North Point East
- Tap or bring coins
Octopus or the exact cash fare; the pier gives no change and fares are not refunded. Ask before paying by wallet app or card.
- Bags to 32 × 23 × 12 inches
Fortune carries luggage free on this route as long as each piece stays within 32 × 23 × 12 inches. Anything bigger is freight: pay for it at the ticket office, HK$20 for each tenth of a cubic metre.
- Bikes, HK$14
Folding and full-size bicycles are carried for HK$14 and go where the crew tells you.
- Pets on some sailings
Fortune accepts pets only on some sailings of this route. Each pays an adult fare at the ticket office, goes in a pet cage or bag, or else wears a muzzle and lead, and stays in the cabin without air conditioning. Ask which boats qualify.
- Kai Tak facilities unlisted
Fortune marks disabled boarding facilities as available at North Point and Kwun Tong but lists none for the Kai Tak landing. Call 5801 2200 if you need step-free access there.
- Within two hours of Signal No. 8
Fortune suspends this route within two hours of the Observatory raising Typhoon Signal No. 8; when boats start again is the duty captain's call. These lists show scheduled times only.
Saturday holidays and a ferry with the same name
The split between a Saturday list and a Sunday list matters most when a public holiday lands on a Saturday. Saturday 26 December 2026 is a general holiday, and so is Saturday 6 February 2027; on both dates the Sunday list applies: no 08:00 or 08:30 from North Point, the first boat at 09:00 and an 11:00 that ordinary Saturdays do not have. Christmas Day, 25 December, and New Year's Day, 1 January 2027, fall on Fridays and also take the Sunday list, so the 07:00 does not sail.
A second service shares the North Point – Kwun Tong name. The Transport Department licenses a vehicular ferry for dangerous goods between the two districts, and the June 2026 fare change on its notice board belongs to that boat, not to this passenger ferry.
