The 07:23 and 07:53 from North Point and the 07:05 and 07:35 from Hung Hom are weekday-only and do not run on these days.
From North Point lists departures from North Point (West) Ferry Pier and From Hung Hom departures from Hung Hom (North) Ferry Pier. Public holidays follow the Saturday and Sunday list. Sun Ferry's journey time of about 8 minutes is for reference only: the harbour speed limit, other shipping, weather and sea conditions can stretch it.

HK$10 and about 8 minutes: that is what Sun Ferry's North Point – Hung Hom ferry costs an adult and how long the Transport Department says it takes. Boats leave North Point at 23 and 53 minutes past the hour and Hung Hom at 05 and 35 minutes past. On weekdays the first departures are 07:23 from North Point and 07:05 from Hung Hom; at the weekend and on public holidays they are 08:23 and 08:05. Every day the last boats are the 19:23 from North Point and the 19:35 from Hung Hom.

The weekday timetable has had a gap around lunchtime since 24 August 2026. On Mondays to Fridays Sun Ferry dropped the 10:53, 11:53, 12:53 and 13:53 from North Point and the 11:05, 12:05, 13:05 and 14:05 from Hung Hom, so from late morning to early afternoon there is one sailing an hour each way. Those departures still run at the weekend and on public holidays, when instead the two early weekday boats in each direction are missing.

It is an ordinary ferry with a single class. Seats go to whoever boards first, and if a sailing fills up, Sun Ferry asks passengers to wait for the next one rather than book: there is nothing to reserve on this route.

HK$10 a crossing: exact cash or Octopus

One price covers both directions and every day of the week. Tap an Octopus card at the turnstile or drop the exact amount in cash: Sun Ferry gives no change at the pier, and a paid fare is not refunded.

Children aged 3 to under 12, passengers aged 65 or over and passengers with disabilities pay HK$5. Sun Ferry asks for the senior half fare and the disability fare in cash, with an HKID card, Senior Citizen Card or Registration Card for People with Disabilities ready to show. Holders of a JoyYou Card aged 60 or over, and of a Personalised Octopus with Persons with Disabilities Status, pay HK$2 under the Government's fare concession scheme, but only when the fare is taken from that Octopus.

West pier at North Point, North pier at Hung Hom

Both ends of this route have a twin pier, and picking the wrong one is the usual mistake. North Point has an East and a West ferry pier side by side: Sun Ferry uses the West one, near North Point Promenade, while Fortune Ferry's boats to Kwun Tong and Kai Tak leave from the East pier. Hung Hom has a North and a South pier: this ferry berths at the North pier on Wa Shun Street, and the Central – Hung Hom ferry at the South pier.

North Point (West) Ferry Pier

Next to North Point Promenade, North Point · Eastern District

The West pier is shared with Sun Ferry's other route, North Point – Kowloon City, so read the destination at the turnstile before you tap in. The freight ticketing office, where bicycles, extra luggage and pets are paid for, is at North Point.

Hung Hom (North) Ferry Pier

Wa Shun Street, Hung Hom · Kowloon City District

The Hung Hom end is the North pier on Wa Shun Street. If you start here with a bicycle or a second bag, note that Sun Ferry's rules place the freight payment at North Point Pier, to be settled before boarding there or on leaving it.

From the Eastern District to the Kowloon waterfront

The ferry joins North Point, in the Eastern District of Hong Kong Island, with Hung Hom in Kowloon City District. It makes no intermediate call. The Transport Department quotes about 8 minutes for the trip and publishes no distance.

Before you head for the turnstiles

  • Exact money or Octopus

Sun Ferry's notes for this route list two ways to pay: an Octopus card or the exact fare in cash. No change is given.

  • One bag rides free

One case or bag up to 32 × 23 × 12 inches, a baby buggy or a small shopping trolley travels free. Each passenger may bring only one case or bag; anything more is charged as freight.

  • Bicycles pay HK$11

A bicycle is carried as freight at HK$11, paid at the freight ticketing office at North Point Pier. Sun Ferry may refuse items larger than 1.5 cubic metres.

  • Pets need staff approval

Register and pay at the North Point freight office. The animal must be in a cage, pet bag or pet stroller, or on a leash and muzzled, and may not take a seat. Sun Ferry quotes HK$11 per pet as a reference only; the charge is set at the pier.

  • Step-free boarding unconfirmed

Neither the Transport Department nor Sun Ferry publishes accessibility details for this route. Call Sun Ferry on 2131 8181 before relying on step-free access.

  • Typhoon Signal No. 8

When the Observatory hoists Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8, the Government's stated position is that ferries and other public transport on the water generally stop for safety. The times on this page are the published timetable, not live running information.

Reading the official symbols

The Transport Department and Sun Ferry print the same times but mark them differently. On the department's page, * flags a weekday-only sailing and # a sailing kept for Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Sun Ferry's own timetable uses # for weekday-only and !! for weekend and holiday sailings, so the same # means opposite things on the two sites. The two lists on this page already apply those symbols.

Public holidays take the weekend timetable; the general holidays this applies to include 25 and 26 December 2026, 1 January 2027 and the Lunar New Year days of 6, 8 and 9 February 2027; 25 December and 1 January fall on Fridays, so on those days the 07:23 from North Point does not sail.
